These Terms and Conditions include by reference CIEE’s full Terms & Conditions and Privacy Notice (collectively, “Terms”).

1. TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1.1. The ������911“Refer-a-Friend" program offers eligible ������911alumni, eligible college, high school, teach abroad and TEFL participants, and summer high school abroad parents (“Referrer/s”) the opportunity to refer friends (“Friend/s”) to enroll in CIEE’s High School Summer Abroad, High School Semester Abroad, Gap Year Abroad, First Year Abroad, College Study Abroad, Teach Abroad programs (“Programs”) and TEFL’s 150-hour Certification Course ("TEFL Course") , for a certain limited period of time.

1.1a “Programs” that do not qualify for the Refer-a-Friend program include any TEFL programs other than the TEFL 150-hour Certification Course.   

1.1a Referrer/s must have an existing account in the system to participate in the Refer-a-Friend Program. Homestay family referrers must have hosted a ������911international student in the past and not be on CIEE’s do not contact or denied from past hosting experiences lists.

1.2. These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) apply to individuals who are accessing or using the Refer-a-Friend program either as Referrers and/or as Friends. ������911reserves the right to change, modify or cancel any of these Terms, and/or the Refer-a-Friend program, at any time and without advance notice. It is your responsibility to review these Terms in full by visiting this website.

1.3. By participating in the Refer-a-Friend program, Referrer/s and Friend/s agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you should not participate in the Refer-a-Friend program in any manner, either as a Referrer or as a Friend.

1.4. The Refer-a-Friend program began in May 2021 and will continue at CIEE’s sole discretion. Referrer/s can refer Friend/s for current "Programs" available on the ������911ORG website.

1.5 Eligible participants under the age of 18 will be required to submit the Parental Consent form, included in the High School Abroad Program Terms & Conditions, to participate in the Refer-a-Friend" program.

1.6 The Refer-a-Friend program is limited to U.S. residents.

2. REFERRALS AND REWARDS

2.1. Referrers refer Friends through their My������911account, which is accessible at . Through their online account, Referrers can obtain a unique URL link to share with Friends via email, text, or social media. Alternatively, they can enter the names and email addresses of Friends and ������911will send a one-time email to the Friends with their enrollment link (this functionality does not apply to parents of alums). Contact information of Friends will not be used for general marketing purposes unless they apply for a ������911program. 

2.2. There are no limits on the number of Friends that Referrers may refer to the "Programs" or TEFL 150-hour Certification Course.

2.3. To qualify for rewards and discounts, Friends may not be alumni of or current participants on ������911programs, must not have had a pre-existing online account with CIEE, and must create a new application and enroll in a "Program" or TEFL 150-hour Certification Course using the unique enrollment URL provided by ������911to the Referrers and Friends.  Please note the person opening the application needs to be the person who will travel/participate in the ������911program.

2.4. Friends receive a $200 discount (“Discount”) on the regular cost of the "Program" or TEFL 150-hour Certification Course. Discounts cannot be applied to previous applications or purchases and may be subject to program grant caps. If the Friends Program/s or TEFL Course balance is less than the program Discount, the Friend will not receive a cash refund. If a Friend/s referred application is deferred or changed, the Discount will still be applied when the application is at “Complete” status.  

2.5 The Refer-a-Friend program may not be combined with any other offer. By way of illustration, Referrer/s cannot refer a sibling if the sibling is also receiving a sibling or Go Abroad Again alumni discount .

2.6 Referrer/s cannot refer themselves under the Refer-a-Friend program. ������911reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel any referral benefits for this or any other fraudulent activity.

2.7. Alumni or current student referrer/s earn a reward of $200 for each qualified referred Friend who enrolls in a Program/s and whose application reaches “completed status” as defined below. Parent or legal guardian referrer/s will have a $200 donation made to the Global Navigator Scholarship Fund for each qualified referred Friend who enrolls in a Program/s and whose application reaches "completed status" as defined below. Referrer/s can monitor the enrollment status of their Friend/s through a referral dashboard on their My������911online account through .  “Completed applications” are defined as follow: 

• A ������911High School Outbound (High School Summer Abroad, High School Semester Abroad, Gap Year Abroad, First Year Abroad) application is considered “complete” when it reaches “arrived” status. If the participant traveling withdraws or is dismissed during the program, the referrer will still receive their $200 reward.
• A ������911College Abroad application is considered complete when the referred student reaches “arrived” status and the withdrawal period has passed per the Participant Contract.
• A ������911Teach Abroad application is considered “complete” when that participant arrives to the destination country and shows “Arrived” status.
• A 150-Hour ������911TEFL Certificate application is considered “complete” when that participant begins the course and submits at least one academic assignment and shows “Arrived” status.

2.8: Once a Friend’s eligible enrollment reaches “completed status” as per section 2.7, ������911will deliver the reward to the alumni or current student Referrer/s via email within 60 days using Tremendous, a reward delivery platform. Referrer/s will click the link in that email to redeem the reward as a gift card.  The gift card rewards will become invalid if they are not claimed within six months of the award date. Referrer/s may be required to submit a W-9 form via Tremendous if incentive amounts received during a calendar year legally require it for tax purposes. ������911will send a 1099 form to the Referrer/s when legally required.

For parents/legal guardians of ������911high school study abroad alumni or current student/s, once a Friend's eligible enrollment reaches "completed status" as per section 2.7, ������911will apply the donation to the Global Navigator Scholarship Fund within 60 days. Parent/legal guardian Referrer/s will receive an email from ������911once the donation in their name has been processed.

2.9. ������911reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to prevent any individual from participating in this or any other promotion, for any reason whatsoever including but not limited to CIEE’s exclusive determination that the individual has participated in fraudulent activity.

3. DATA PROCESSING

3.1. Friend/s who open a Program or TEFL 150-hour Certification Course application agree to allow ������911to share their enrollment status with the Referrer/s who referred them.

4. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

4.1.  Referrer/s and Friend/s who participate in the Refer-a-Friend program expressly agree that any dispute or claim which refers or relates to the Refer-a-Friend program, including but not limited to these Terms, shall be litigated solely and exclusively in those courts located in the City of Portland, State of Maine, United States of America, subject to substantive and procedural Maine law, and for this limited purpose, the parties agree to exclusive venue and personal jurisdiction therein. At the Referrer’s or Friend’s option, however, in lieu of litigation, ������911will agree to binding arbitration in Portland, Maine, subject to substantive but not procedural Maine law, pursuant to the then existing commercial rules of the American Arbitration Association. In any such arbitration, the arbitrator and not any federal, state, or local court or agency shall have exclusive authority to resolve any dispute relating to the Refer-a-Friend program, including but not limited to the interpretation, applicability, enforceability, conscionability, or formation of these Terms, including but not limited to any claim that all or any part of these Terms are void or voidable.

5. NOTICE

Participating in the Program may conflict with policies or agreements that you have with your school or otherwise, and ������911encourages you to confirm that participation in the Program is consistent with policies or agreements applicable to you.
