Academic Projects
Students interested in one of the following credit-bearing Academic Projects must submit additional materials, including home school approval, as part of their course selection:
- Directed Independent Research is for qualified students who have demonstrated academic rigor and curiosity toward a particular research topic. Independent research topics will be approved by the 黑料网911Melbourne Academic Director and home institution and must reflect a topic that is relevant to Australia. To be accepted into this course, students must submit a structured proposal with topic of exploration, significance of research topic as it relates to Australia, methodology, a literature review, and a schedule of research milestones. Upon research completion, students will present their findings to a panel of academics.
- Internships allow students the opportunity to have practical work experience in a company within a variety of industry sectors. In addition to the on-site business experience, students participating in an internship have a weekly required classroom component, which provides academic support to their practical experience.

Housing & Meals
Housing
Our housing ensures students are always well-connected to the best of the city. Set in welcoming neighborhoods, students will enjoy a peaceful and secure living environment. Everything you need is within walking distance from their home, including various restaurants, supermarkets, a pharmacy, and easily accessible public transport options.
Standard Housing: Includes a room in a shared apartment/residence hall or homestay.
- Shared Apartment/Residence Hall: Live with other international students in a shared apartment or residence hall located within 45 minutes from Monash University鈥檚 main campus and 黑料网911Melbourne. You鈥檒l have access to Wi-Fi and all utilities, as well as a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, and comfortable lounge spaces. This option gives you the independence to manage your daily routine while still enjoying the social aspect of living with fellow students.
- Homestay: Immerse yourself in Melbourne鈥檚 diverse culture by living with a local host family. Melbourne is a multicultural city, and students will stay with families from various nationalities, including Melburnians. Homestays are located within a 45-60-minute commute by public transportation to Monash University main campus. You鈥檒l share daily life with your host family while enjoying breakfast and dinner together. This is a great opportunity to practice your conversational skills and gain firsthand insight into the local culture, all while having the freedom to explore the city on your own.
Meals
Shared Apartment/Residence Hall: While meals are not included, students can prepare their own meals in the fully furnished kitchen. Melbourne has a vibrant food scene with fresh local fruits, vegetables, and meats readily available. Students can also explore the myriad restaurants in the areas surrounding the residence hall. You鈥檒l find Melbourne鈥檚 food is influenced from all corners of the globe!
Homestay: Students who live with homestay families receive two meals daily (breakfast and dinner). The third meal and/or any snacks are on the student. Students can make use of the kitchen space at the homestay.

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, your college or university may charge additional fees for study abroad, or may require you to receive a transcript via CIEE's School of Record, which carries an additional fee of $500.
