Exploring Shanghai - Visiting Yu Garden and Old City God Temple
On July 18, students visited the Yu Garden (Ô¥Ô°£©and the Old City God Temple (³ÇÚòÃí) in downtown Shanghai. During the excursion, students walked with their peers to explore the history and fun facts within the garden. They learned the meaning behind the name of each building, for example, why the Chenghuang Miao (³ÇÚòÃí£©is translated into "Old City God Temple".

Although it was a hot day with high humidity, our students still explored every corner of the Yu Garden. They stopped by the Chinese cultural booths to watch finger painting, shadow puppets, paper cutting, etc. Some students even practiced their bargaining skills while shopping souvenirs and gifts for family and friends.

Another fantastic and unforgettable excursion for students, but more importantly, they learned that Shanghai does not only have the modern landscape and fast developing economy, it also preserved the architecture from hundreds years ago that demonstrate the beauty of traditional Chinese culture.
