Your ��911Semester Global Internship program in Copenhagen lasts 12 weeks and features three key components: A full-time internship with an international organization (30-40 hours per week), an internship seminar, and a 3-credit academic course taught online through CIEE’s global academic partner, ASU. Housing

��911Copenhagen offers two different housing options to ensure you're comfortable in your home away from home. Housing options are located in neighborhoods with convenient access to efficient and clean public transportation, shops, cafés, grocery stores, and anything you’d need to live like a true Copenhagener.   

Standard Housing: Includes a single room in a residence hall or a shared room in a shared apartment, within a 35-minute commute to ��911Center. Residence Halls: The single rooms are equipped with small kitchens and an en suite bathroom. Residence halls provide shared common spaces with a larger, communal kitchen, multiple study and hangout areas, and gym facilities.   
Shared Apartments: Apartments feature double and/or triple rooms, with shared living areas, bathrooms and a full kitchen.

Select Housing: Includes a double room at a residence hall located within a 15-minute walk from ��911Copenhagen. Each dorm room is equipped with a kitchenette and an en suite bathroom, along with shared common spaces including a communal kitchen, multiple study and hangout areas, and gym facilities. Select housing requires an additional fee.   

Residence Halls: Located in the heart of the city, double rooms are equipped with small kitchens and an en suite bathroom. Residence halls provide shared common spaces with a larger, communal kitchen, multiple study and hangout areas, and gym facilities.   
Shared Apartments: Apartments feature single rooms, with shared living areas, bathrooms, and a full kitchen.

A note: The default criterion to assign housing is first-come, first-served; however, other factors may also be considered. If we cannot accommodate your first housing choice, we'll let you know before you arrive. Non-standard housing options require an additional fee that can be found in the program Dates and Fees.

Meals

Residence Hall and Shared Apartments: Meals are not included. Students prepare their own meals in their own kitchenette or the residence hall’s shared kitchen facilities. ��911provides basic cooking utensils and cleaning supplies. There is also a wide range of restaurants and cafes located nearby.

All Global Semester Internship participants take the required 6-credit full-time internship with the embedded internship seminar plus an optional ASU online course for a total of 6-10 semester credits.

��911Internship: 6 U.S. semester credits/9 quarter credits: 90 hours of in-person and asynchronous online learning activities and 225-240 hours at the internship placement

ASU Online Courses: Typically, 3 U.S. semester/4.5-6 quarter credits; 45-60 contact hours

Academic Culture

��911courses are designed to follow U.S. academic culture and standards. The integrated academic course which correlates with the 12-week internship is taught primarily in-person or hybrid to complement the internship experience. Students are expected to dress and behave professionally throughout their internship and are subject to the agreed-upon internship protocols arranged by ��911and the host organization.

ASU Courses: You may find yourself in classes with students from ASU, other American universities, and students from around the world. Some are earning their degrees entirely online, while others, like you, are supplementing their education with an online course. You’ll receive direct and individualized support from faculty, 100% online. Most ASU online courses are asynchronous, meaning there are no set log-in times, but make sure to verify this before the add/drop deadline in case you want to make a change.

Class Format

Students participate in a 12-week full-time in-person internship and required academic course taught in a hybrid learning environment, featuring both in-person class sessions and online asynchronous work designed to help students develop professional and intercultural competencies to complement their internship experience.

ASU online courses meet in “sessions” that are 7.5 weeks long in the semester, and all work must be completed within the session dates regardless of when your other ��911courses begin or end. You’ll need a standard PC or Mac desktop or laptop computer with a download speed higher than 25 Mbps, as well as access to email, productivity software like Microsoft Office and other applications needed to perform a variety of educational functions. Most course materials you will need are available online. Since you are working mostly or entirely asynchronously, you’re given deadlines for your assignments by your instructor or in your syllabus, but you can work at your own pace within these due dates. Most instructors suggest a recommended pace to optimize your learning, but you have the flexibility to complete your ASU courses while pursuing your studies at your ��911location.

Grading

The U.S. grading scale of A-F is used. Students are graded on the basis of in-class and online engagement, preparation, and specific assessments (such as project work, presentations, examinations, etc).

ASU grading follows the same format and standards as ASU courses taught in-person. As a U.S. institution of higher education, the grading practices should be familiar to any ��911student. ASU awards grades of "A+," "A," "A-," "B+," " B," "B-," "C+," "C," "D," or "E.” “Pass/fail” or “Audit” is not allowed for ��911students. Please see the ��911Academic Manual for Students for more information about your grades.
