Overview

Spend your summer studying abroad in Amsterdam, home to the national stock exchange (one of the oldest modern markets in the world), the Dutch National Bank, and many other international companies. Designed for students with a business or communications studies background, Amsterdam is the perfect place to broaden your understanding of the Netherlands's role in the global marketplace and deepen your business and communications knowledge abroad.

ºÚÁÏÍø911Amsterdam offers courses on sustainable business, contemporary television, and intercultural communication. Courses are taught in English, and students will attend immersive activities designed to increase intercultural understanding and give a nuanced perspective of the Netherlands.

Your Destination

You’ll have no problem feeling right at home among Amsterdam’s 875,000 inhabitants. Though the Dutch capital is a European hub for business and finance, including the headquarters of numerous Dutch and international companies, it’s got an artsy, vibrant side, too — think museums housing original works by Van Gogh and Rembrandt, art galleries, music clubs, and theaters. Although the city is home to 180 different nationalities - making it one of the most diverse populations in the world - English is the unofficial second language here, so it’s easy to communicate with the locals. What's more, ºÚÁÏÍø911Amsterdam is conveniently located close to the University of Amsterdam in the tranquil Plantage neighborhood, where students can easily drop in to speak to ºÚÁÏÍø911staff, study, or simply hang out in the student area between classes.

ºÚÁÏÍø911wants all our students to feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to succeed while studying abroad. Local ºÚÁÏÍø911staff have provided details about  that students with specific identities might encounter in Amsterdam.

The Culture

EXCURSIONS & ACTIVITIES

  • During orientation, venture out into the countryside to visit an old medieval castle, a small authentic fisherman’s town, or a small Dutch city bearing immense historical significance
  • Take a day trip that highlights Dutch innovation outside the city rings of Amsterdam, such as a trip to the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier or an architecture and design-focused visit to Rotterdam.
  • Explore Amsterdam's world-famous canal belt on a private canal cruise, or leave the city behind and paddle a canoe through the Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam Forest)
  • Relax during an open-air movie screening at a popular Amsterdam city beach.
  • Go to a concert, play, flea market, or a special exhibition in one of Amsterdam’s museums.
