Overview

Spend your summer interning abroad in Palma de Mallorca, a dreamy island home to stunning scenery, unique Mediterranean cuisine and traditions, near-constant sunshine, and fascinating natural protected areas. During this eight-week summer internship, you’ll focus your education and skills on tourism, hospitality, business, and social and environmental responsibility. From gaining soft skills – like communication, problem-solving, time management, conflict resolution, creative thinking, and teamwork – to getting an inside look at how a European organization operates, you’re in for a life-changing international internship in Palma.

To complement your experience, you’ll enjoy living with a Mallorquin family, immersing you deeply in the local culture. While living like a local, you’ll adopt a sustainable and socially responsible lifestyle, giving you a unique perspective of and appreciation for island life. This experience will quickly transform you from a tourist into a member of the Mallorquin community, bringing even more value to your time abroad.

Your Destination

Founded by the Romans in 123 BC, the city of Palma is a mosaic of cultures and architectural styles. It is small enough to walk and bike everywhere, but with the flare of a modern and cosmopolitan European city.

The port city of Palma is dominated by an impressive Gothic Cathedral, the elegant Moorish Almudaina Palace, and the round Medieval Bellver Castle. Mediterranean in essence, Mallorca’s flavors are found in fresh fruits and vegetables, spices, and fish at the buzzing Mercat de l’Olivar or Santa Catalina market in the trendiest neighborhood of Palma. Art lovers can discover Spain’s contemporary art at Museo Fundación Joan March, Es Baluard Museum, the unique Miró Museum, or the many art galleries scattered around the old town.

Palma is filled with specialty coffee shops, which will delight coffee lovers. For a more traditional experience, visit Can Joan de S’Aigo where, for three centuries, typical savors from the island have been served, like ensaimada, the most international pastry from Mallorca.

ºÚÁÏÍø911wants all our students to feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to succeed while studying abroad. Local ºÚÁÏÍø911staff have provided details about conditions and cultural attitudes that students with specific identities might encounter in Palma.
