Academics

Academics

This program is designed to help students expand their business vocabulary, immerse themselves linguistically and professionally in a new culture, and gain practical experience on the job.  Upon completing a two-week Spanish language concentrated session to build vocabulary and conversational skills, program participants begin an internship of 100-120 hours of on-site work combined with a one-day per week oral proficiency language class.  While the internship is considered part-time by academic standards, students will feel like full-time interns with hands-on internship work during the second half of the program.  The internship is complemented by a research project and weekly seminars on topics such as public speaking and leadership.

Intern in a Spanish company: help improve logistics and customer relations, build finance reports in Excel, analyze competitors, develop marketing plans, audit local Andalusian companies, and more.

The internship selection process considers the student’s language ability, job skills, background, and professional attitude. Students’ internship placements will be confirmed in advance of traveling.  Because Spanish firms make final selections, internships in a particular company are not guaranteed.  Students have interned for organizations like Mail Boxes, Emerita Resources, Clic International House, Valcambre, Incemet, Sevilla Futbol Club, Ketal Sports, etc, as well as smaller firms and companies.

ºÚÁÏÍø911Seville site: our home is a beautifully renovated palace, originally built in 1725, close to the Royal Alcazar palace, and a 10-minute walk from the Universidad de Seville.  The ºÚÁÏÍø911Seville center includes classrooms, a computer room, student services, and the Language Resource Center.

Prior to departure for Seville, all program participants take a ºÚÁÏÍø911Seville online placement exam (OLPT). Results provide onsite language instructors with additional information about students’ linguistic skills and backgrounds.

Students agree to speak only Spanish to encourage language and cultural acquisition.
