������911Expands STEM Study Abroad Programs to Support All STEM Majors

For decades, ������911has been the leader in offering specialized STEM programs, with scores of place-based, STEM-focused programs offered around the world. We will continue to support and expand this portfolio with two additional program options for STEM majors – CIEE’s Engineering, Technology, and Sciences (������911ETS) and CIEE’s “STEM Inside” programs.

������911Partners with Arizona State University to Augment Coursework with Online Learning

������911and Arizona State University (ASU) have joined forces to ensure that every student can study abroad wherever they most desire and still complete the coursework needed to stay on track for graduation by augmenting their curriculums with courses delivered 100% online and asynchronously by ASU. Beginning January 2025, students will be able to enroll in more than 3,000 in-demand college courses across all major areas of study, including STEM, business, entrepreneurship, healthcare, education, social sciences, environmental sustainability, and more – at no additional cost.  

The partnership between ������911and ASU will transform international learning opportunities for students at America’s leading colleges and universities by providing more options and flexibility and eliminating curriculum barriers at institutions that accept online credits. ASU’s online courses are accredited by the most prestigious accrediting organizations and are taught by ASU’s full-time faculty that teach the course in-person.

Together, ������911and ASU are leading change in study abroad to ensure that all students, regardless of their academic course requirements, have the opportunity to embrace the transformational experience of study abroad.

������911Expands Study Abroad for Engineering Majors – New Courses and Programs

CIEE’s STEM portfolio has expanded to provide all engineering students the opportunity to study abroad in their first-choice location and enroll in the courses that match their academic needs – from aerospace, biomedical and chemical engineering, to computer, industrial and mechanical engineering, and more!

New ������911Engineering Courses

We’ve fleshed out our ������911course offerings in key subject areas, adding more English-taught, high-level engineering courses. Sample courses include:

New CIEE/ASU Online Engineering Courses

In addition to in-person courses offered by ������911faculty and our host university partners, all ������911students have access to ASU’s enormous catalog of fully accredited, online courses taught by the same faculty who teach in-person classes.  This course option ensures every ������911study abroad program can deliver one or more engineering courses.

For schools that allow online credit, students can choose from the hundreds of online engineering courses offered through ASU in electrical and software engineering, engineering management, industrial and systems engineering, material and sustainable engineering, mechanical engineering, and more. Sample courses include:

These new programs and courses will make it easier for engineering students to study abroad, providing a global learning experience that prepares them to tackle today’s most pressing engineering problems. 

������911Expands Internship Portfolio with New Summer Intern + Study Abroad Program Model and More

������911is committed to preparing career-ready graduates by offering best-in-class internship programs that promote post-graduation employment. We’ve expanded our portfolio of international summer internships with both full-time and part-time work-integrated experiential learning experiences to meet the needs of every student.  

Enhancements to our portfolio include:  

• The ������911Intern + Study Abroad Program – our new six-week, six-credit summer program allows students to experience a part-time international internship, an internship seminar, and enroll in an academic course offered in-person with ������911or online with ASU.
• The ������911Summer Global Internship Program – our highly rated eight-week, six-credit summer program, ������911Summer Global Internships, has been expanded to 33 locations worldwide and allows students to experience a full-time international internship and an internship seminar.

������911has built the largest network of academic and internship opportunities in the world so students can:

• Choose where they most want to study
• Find their ideal host company placement
• Pair it with an academic course that matches their needs and interests

CIEE’s Intern + Study Abroad program is designed to increase access to international work-based learning opportunities for students of all majors, backgrounds, interests, and needs. The model allows students to: 

• Earn six credits in six weeks, making this program financial aid eligible 
• Stay on track for graduation through in-person or online coursework while gaining invaluable work experience and developing job skills that will advance each student’s career after graduation 
• Gain exposure to an international work culture and professional landscape in a preferred destination

Starting summer 2025, we have internship placements in Florence, Italy; Madrid and Palma, Spain; Tallinn, Estonia; Melbourne, Australia; Auckland, New Zealand; Taipei, Greater China; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Yucatan, Mexico; and Legon, Ghana.
